About Us

Mission

Moab Charter School serves families through Athenian Schools and shares a mission of, "Improving Lives," may appear simple at first glance, but its impact reaches far beyond what it initially suggests. So, whose lives are we striving to improve? The answer is: everyone who interacts with our school. While students are the cornerstone of our efforts, we also focus on supporting families and enriching local communities.

By employing staff from the communities we serve, we ensure that our schools not only contribute directly to local economies but also reflect a deep understanding of the unique needs and concerns of our neighbors. Moab Charter School is dedicated to being a vital resource for families, fostering meaningful connections, empowering them to prepare for the future, and enriching their present.

Vision

Moab Charter School believes that "Improving Lives" is achieved by empowering students, parents, and community members to become effective problem solvers. This is accomplished by fostering positive relationships and equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to seek out solutions. Most importantly, we emphasize the power of resilience, ensuring that as challenges arise and setbacks occur, the focus remains on persevering and moving forward toward success.

Embracing Kaizen

Athenian Schools embody the Kaizen philosophy by committing to continuous improvement in every aspect of education. Rooted in the belief that small, incremental changes lead to significant long-term gains, Athenian Schools strive for excellence through daily progress in teaching, learning, and administration.

For students, this philosophy is reflected in the school's innovative blended learning approach, which encourages ongoing academic growth and adaptation to each student’s needs. Teachers and staff are dedicated to refining their practices, collaborating, and embracing new methods that enhance the educational experience.
Athenian Schools provide opportunities that fit within smaller rural communities, where options are often limited, and fosters academic excellence to ensure at-risk students are prepared for college and careers.

The Athenian Schools Logo

The Athenian Schools logo blends classical symbols with modern elements to represent the school's commitment to academic excellence and continuous improvement. The laurel wreath symbolizes victory and achievement, while the three stars represent government, family, and community—key pillars of support. The central Greek column merged with a fountain pen reflects the balance between classical education and modern intellectual pursuits, with the open book below highlighting the focus on knowledge and learning.

The circular swoosh, symbolizing the Zen circle (ensō), stands for continuous improvement and enlightenment. The colors—blue for trust, yellow for optimism, and red for passion—add depth, drawing inspiration from the Athens City flag.
Together, these elements convey Athenian Schools' dedication to growth, education, and community.

Athenian Schools will empower individuals to thrive in an ever-evolving world, ensuring that each student is equipped to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

The flag of the United States of America will be appropriately displayed at MCS each school day in keeping with accepted practices. Students handling the flag will show proper respect for it. Each morning of every school day, students will recite the Pledge of Allegiance.  At least once per school year, students will be instructed that participation in saying the pledge is voluntary and not compulsory, and students should show respect for anyone who chooses not to participate. A student may be excused from reciting the Pledge upon request by that student’s parent or legal guardian.
